Do you need a Visiting Nurse, Aide or Therapist?
A visiting nurse is not always the answer

  • Visiting Nurse – When skilled nursing care is required Homecare Theropies can provide you with a visiting nurse. So what determines whether you need a visiting nurse, aide or therapist? A visiting nurse can administer medications and treatments to the patient and make sure that future medications are understood and ready for the patient to take in the future. A visiting nurse can perform immunization services like giving a patient the annual flu shot. Other types of iNYections can also be performed by the visiting nurse like fertility shots. And a visiting nurse can be assigned when the patient needs full time care following a serious iNYury or operation.
  • Home Health Aide – A visiting nurse may not be necessary if the patient is looking more for personal companionship or help getting to appointments for instance. A home care aide can provide reminders to patients to take their medicine, take pulse and blood pressure measurements when they visit. Light housekeeping duties, bathing, dressing and general assistance is all duties that a home care aide can perform. For any of these situations a visiting nurse would not be necessary.

  • Therapist – A visiting nurse does not have the experience and skills to help you get back on your feet following an iNYury or illness. A therapist will be assigned to a patient when it is determined that therapy can help the patient recover movement, speech or cognitive ability. A therapist works with patients to be able to do the things that used to come easily. We all take the ability to walk or get in and out of a chair for granted but many patients need assistance in regaining these abilities. Our therapists will use their skills to help patients get back on their feet without the need for a visiting nurse. Homecare Therapies has occupational therapists and speech therapists in addition to physical therapists.
